Burms/RI/Hissing
How can one tell the difference between hissing and RI.
I have two very large burms (9-10 ft each) and I am always paranoid about RI!
One burm always does a random loud hiss, like once every 2 days and it always seems like it's when she's moving around or when my cats are watching her.
When she moves around she hisses as well.
My other one just does it when she's moving around.
They both have a tremendous feeding response.
How do you tell the difference?

Big burms sound like they are hissing when they are breathing. If its a warning hiss the tongue is usually out.
A r/i its usually a different sound all together. Kinda like a gurgling

If it sounds like a exhale, huf/puf or light hiss it's actually something burms do. It's called "talking". Mine "talks" alot if he gets frustrated and can't get somewhere he wants. It's actually kind of funny.
RI signs:
Mouth gapping open to breath
Open mouth and cough
Gurgle or popping sound
mucus from nose
etc

Re: Burms/RI/Hissing
Best burm hiss - early in the morning, when the snake is asleep, very quietly open their cage and tickle their tail. HISS I was sleeping!
