    Unhappy Breeding Question

If I have a 2365 Gram Normal Female and a 523 Gram Pinstripe Male that i want to breed. Should I try to get the pinstripe fatter or start putting them together now and see if they lock up. The friend i bought them from says the Pinstripe male is a proven breeder!

    All constructive criticism is welcomed!

    Re: Breeding Question

Was the animal quarantine for 3 months?

    Does he produce sperm plug?

Can you pair him? Absolutely just remember that breeding takes it's toll on males so know when to stop should you have to.

Since this is my first time breeding how do i know when to pull the male! I heard leaving the male and female together for 3-5 days! Should i feed them first then put them together or does it matter?

What I meant is to make sure you monitor your male, they often stop eating and can lose a significant amount of weight during the season and you do not want to over-breed him, should he lose too much weight you might need to stop breeding him all together.

As far a pairing itself everyone does it a bit differently and again it depend on the male's size, I would pair a male that size once a week leaving him with the female for 2 to 3 days and than rest him.

This is why i was thinking on trying to put some more weight on the male before I try to breed him. Which is really confusing

    Re: Breeding Question

I was under the impression that the "sperm plug" was just a stuck hemipenal cast which failed to shed and had pretty much nothing to do with "sperm"?
