Try and get her on rats now. If she's eating that good nows a good time.

    How big is your enclosure?

What prey size are you feeding?

She was on large hoppers 2 weeks ago. I went up to small mice this past Sunday and today. I'm not so sure though she is big enough yet for a small rat. Also, I have tried to get her to F/T with no luck yet and I am worried she may get hurt with a live rat. She has struck a few times in her feeding mid-belly and butt end. If she did that with a small rat, I am worried she may get bit.

Her tank is a 10 gallon.

Not all animals do well in glass tank, your BP is VERY small for being 3 months old and I would suggest providing a little more security by either cluttering up the tank or even better keeping your BP in a 6 quarts tub for the time being.

I would also limit handling to every other day.

She is small. Sadly, the girl I got her from was feeding her a pinkie every other week. I am amazed she actually survived from all I have read on here.

As for her tank, I think it is cluttered fairly well ( 2 hides, water dish, a climb branch). One thing I didn't try is putting black paper on the back and sides, which I am going to try tonight.

As for handling her, it REALLY seems like that is what she wants. When I get her out she will wrap herself around my wrist or climb all over me. When I go to put her down anywhere, whether it be her tank or the bed or anything else, she tends to hang on and not want to let go. And as soon as I do put her down, she tends to come right back to me after just a few minutes if I am on the bed, or will go to whatever side I am at and go to the edge of the bed and "lean over" towards me.

I'm new to BP's but from all I have read on her about how they act when stressed this really doesn't seem the same. And again, maybe I am just over reacting. I will hold off handling her to every other day and see what that does though. I don't handle her for 2 days after feeding already, so I will hold off until Sat and see what effect that has.

Even though she's doing all these things when you take her out, you can't be 100% sure that's what she wants. We can assume all we want, but that's just the way it is. Trust me though, you'll be able to read your snake very well as time goes on. (You'd probly get a kick out of the thread I think my snake loves me)

I think covering up the sides will help alot, that will give a good amount of security. Is she in a heavy traffic room? I can imagine with 8 kids, if she were in the living room it could be pretty busy. Assuming your kids are still young enough to be in the house.

Also, I don't have alot of experience with the way rats and mice react to a snakes bite-and-let-go, but I have heard that mice are more aggressive than rats. Maybe someone else can address your concern about her getting bit after she does that.

Just an update: I did cover the back and sides with black paper on her tank last night. Either that has done the trick or she is just to full to do anything but hide! Either way, she has been in her hide now since last night.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions!!
