Do you ever let your snakes "explore"?

As in take he/she out of he/shes cage and let them slither around for a little bit. I do, and my snakes seem to like it a lot.

Only in the snake room when I'm in there with them...and only when I'm sure they aren't going to...ummm...answer the call of nature.

I do let them explore within reason, but I've learned I have to leave myself notes in conspicuous places when I do so. Because I'm very absent-minded, and I have been known to go out to the store or turn on the television and just completely forget that somebody's out, and then it's an ordeal to find them again.

Because of the effect of body warmth, it's more important to check for imminent poo drops when you're handling more so than it when they're just exploring. But I still make a cursory check for obvious bulging in the back end.

Re: Do you ever let your snakes "explore"?

I usually just hold my snakes when I have them out, so they mainly just get to explore my hands, arms, shoulders and around my neck sometimes. Every once and awhile I'll let them crawl on my bed or the floor, but I always try to be very conscious of anything they might get themselves into or wrapped around, and I never let them go beyond arm's reach. I'm just so paranoid that they'll get away from me and injure themselves somehow Plus, I have a cat, so I have to be extra careful. I agree that they do seem to enjoy it though.

Oh yeah, I always check for "the bulge" too, and I've still had a few close calls

I let mine on the livingroom floor, only when my 3 years old is in bed sleeping. I do have cats but I watch them both and I right there. The cats just watch him and wound what is this thing on my floor.
