I'm using cocofiber as a substrate and want to change it, too much of a pain to clean but he likes to burrow in it. Thought Of Aspen but will still be a pain to clean. News paper is great but he can't burrow in it.
Cypress mulch is another option. It helps with humidity, and I have found that some of my snakes eat better when kept on it than paper.

Iv noticed the past few feeding hes has been striking like a wimp, he kinda just grabs it now. Before he would strike it soo hard, sometimes it would make me jump alittle, cuz he was soo fast. Does this mean anything?? Havent changed his food or anything.

Most likely not. He may just not be as hungry. Some of mine do that. Actually, some of mine do not strike at all. I just lay the rat in the cage, and they eat it off of the floor.

Hah that's funny. He struck last nite pretty good, he constricted it in half, belly of the rat out, snapped the spine in half, then cuddled it for 10-15 mins And eventually ate it. I'd hate to see what he would do to live prey......
