my bp got bit by a stunned mouse

ive been feeding my snakes like this since i got them. I literally took this mouse flicked in the head three times and hit it on my bureu once. Then i held it by the tail so my normal could grab it. My bp grabbed it in such a way that he wrapped his neck around the rats mouth. I saw the rat biting my snake and tried to pry him off. I just saw the cut and it doesnt look too bad and i will have to look at it closer when hes done eating but could i put neosporin on it or so?ething like that or what should i do. I doubt this is going to be vet visit material because its minor from what i c but just wanted your thoughts on what to do.

Re: my bp got bit by a stunned mouse

I've had a few bites before, all very minor...basically all I do is switch to newspaper or papertowels..cause you dont want dust or anything from aspen or mulch getting in the wound..also sometimes I've heard people use neosporin on them, the kind without painrelievers in it(apparantly it can harm the snake..idk cause I dont use it), I've also heard that if its a big enough cut that supergluing it back togeather could work..and once again idk if that works cuz I have never done it. But other than that I would just say maybe a soak in a STERILE container and keep his/her habitat as clean as possible! Also keep an eye on it and watch for any puss-like discharge and if that happens or it gets swollen take it to a vet.

Neosporing with no pinakiller in it every day for a week or two, switch to paper towels for a week or two and your good to go.

Re: my bp got bit by a stunned mouse

this is exactly why i DO NOT try to stun the rats before i feed 'em to my snake. cuz i know they might wake up and will actually fight harder coming out of a stun, or so i hear.
