Ball python copulation
My ball pythons have locked up 3 or 4 times now starting in october and as of late December I have not witnessed any more lock up's. My question is, how many times is it necessary for my ball pythons to lock up in order to ensure she becomes gravid?

Re: Ball python copulation
There is no magical number. I had a female lock only three times give a clutch of 7 eggs last season, and when she was locked it was only in december.
Then I had a female lock many times until may, and she started building, then decided it just wasn't a good time.
Depends on the males, depends on the females. Rule is, keep pairing until you see ovulation in a female, or until she refuses a male (not this early, I mean keeps refusing until may).
Keep putting in your male, just because you don't see any locks doesn't mean they aren't happening, and plus is very early for a female to be refusing a male, she probably just doesn't know it's that time of year, keeping the male in for two or three days (then time off) should get them going.
