Heating Advice
Well right now I have a stack of 3 4X2's and a rack that fits in the stack. For the 4x2's I use RHP's. I am pretty disapointed with the cages so Im looking to get a new stack, a stack from Constrictors NW.
The question I have is: Do you think I could use heat tape on a stack of 3x2x1s or 4x2x1s in a room that stays around 68-72. Its usually closer to 70, but may drop to 68 at times.

what material and how thick is the material between the heat and the snake. what sort of placement did you have in mind?

You might need twin controls as well. One set up for the hot side(s) and one for the cool side(s) as the room is quite cool. The materials and thickness will make massive differences to the set up. I have not used RHPs although I have looked at them. Were you going to keep using the RHPs and supplement with the tape? I think that is what you mean. I use a similar set up with two identical enclosures they use heat tape (cool sides) and UTHs (hot sides) I have a Herpstat pro regulating the temps on both hot and cool sides it has been perfect. My room is also cool 70-75º generally but of chilly nights it will drop to 66º the only thing that changes in the enclosure is the ambient temps from the center of the enclosure they drop sometimes. The hide temps and low level temps are fine.

I wasn't going to use the RHP's. I was looking to sell the stack I have, heating and all, and get the new stack with just heat tape. This could save some money with the electric bill and if I was to get a new stack I would like to use heat tape as its about 100 dollars for each cage for the RHP's compared to the much more inexpensive heat tape and UTH's.
I have a herpstat pro right now so controlling multiple places won't be a problem. So you guys cover end to end of the cage with heat tape, two pieces. Then just have one cooler and one for the hot side?

RHP are the most inexpensive thing to run electric bill wise, there won't be a huge difference between heat tape and rhp but rhp is still cheaper to run, but yes much more expensive to buy.
you still havn't told us what your trying heat through and your plans as far as placement, how much, what kind of heat tape.... alot of factors to think about
