    Question Burn Questions

Good evening everyone, This morning I found my girl hiding under her substrate and the repti-carpet I installed to keep her away from the glass, so I took her out from there and re-arranged her cage. I came home tonight (8 hours away) My wife told me my ball python has been under there for at least 7 hours. My concern is that she could have been burned. As soon as I got home and asked how long she'd been that way I removed her and took the temp of the hot side (she had managed to pull up and separate the thermostat probe from the glass, and the temp was showing 110 fahrenheit. She felt very warm, I stuck my hand against the glass for about a minute (yes I understand it's different than 8 hours) and it was warm, but not hot. She looked a little pink, like before a shed, but doesn't look any different after a few minutes. I've taken a few precautions so far. I've moved the cold side thermometer to the glass 88 fehrenheit and the surface of the substrate is 87 fehrenheit to make sure if she burrows down to the glass again, she won't get a burn because of it.
    QUESTIONS:
    1) How long does it take to see a burn?
    2) Do you think shes been burned?
    3) Suggestions?
    Thanks for helping.

This one a more experienced/knowledgeable member will have to answer
    2) Do you think shes been burned?
I would say it's certainly possible
    3) Suggestions?
IF she is burned make sure that she can't burn herself again and you can either use Neosporin without a pain reliever or you can use Repti Wound by ZooMed. Apply that according to directions and so long as the burn is not too severe it should heal up fine and go away with the next shed. If it's a really severe burn she may need a trip to the vet.
    Thanks for helping.

Thanks for the reply, I've been poking around on the internet and I read of a guy who's temp was 105 (seems way too hot to me) but claims his ball python did not get burned. (wasn't against the glass either) She hasn't eaten in two weeks, but it is December. I'm hoping that might give her a slight edge, but I just don't know. I haven't had this problem before in the last 1yr and a half. She's burrowed before, but never managed to pull the probe off the glass. (I'm hoping that I'm lucky enough that she didn't pull up the probe until just before I got home.)

Keep a close eye on her and if it looks off then I would see if the vet would take a look at her, better safe than sorry.

I was able to find a couple of pics of what a burn looks like, not sure if these help or not.

Doesn't look like any of those, just a little pink (like pre-shed) but I'll monitor her every morning and night for the next 2 weeks for sure.

Keep us posted and let us know how it goes, with any luck she didn't get any burns and will be fine.

I'm not seeing anything this morning, which I take as a good sign she'll be ok. I noticed some odd looking scales last night, but everything looks good this morning. I'm thinking she might have been a little dehydrated last night after sitting by and on the pad for 8 hours.
