    Locked in poo/pee?

So I have been going with a 3 days on 3 days off and offering food on the days off for my female and male that I'm trying to breed. Here is where I have a question. They have been eating and taking food but every now and again they don't use the bathroom until after they have been put back together. Most the time this is ok because if something comes out I just move them to a new clean tub. But this morning and all today they have been locked together but they were also sitting in a spilled water bowl and also feces. I waited till they separated but for future reference what should I do? Any suggestions?

Exactly what you did. I think the poo'ing and pee'ing is part of the breeding ritual with them - I don't even bother to move them when they've defecated until after the 3 day cycle.
