I did the switch a few weeks ago. At first, my girl didn't want to go in her hide, only lasted a few hrs then she gave in and she's good now. As for the colored print, just don't use the glossy shiney paper. The regular stuff is fine if it has colors in it, so I'm told, and have been useing it for the past month with no bad effects.

Re: News Paper?
All newspaper ink is safe now, even the colored stuff. But you may see more transfer with the glossy, colored stuff. Messy.
I like blank newsprint....but I get mine for free, so that makes it extra easy to like.

I use printed newspaper for all my adult snakes and the only issue is the ink rubs off a little some times that you can see slightly on the white snakes that hide under or crawl through the paper. My pied male stays on top of the paper and looks perfect while my male super mojo hides under the paper and crawls through it and you can tell the ink rubs off a little on him. Not bad but you can see it a little. You can clean it off though if you wanted but does not hurt them.

Hey JLC,
How do you get it free, from a newspaper plant? You just call and ask them if they have any unwanted blank paper?
thanks,
Dave

No, not so simple. Mine is free, but I do "pay" for it in major life upheaval. LOL The military moves us often, and every time they do, they pay for professionals to come in and pack all our stuff. They use perfectly cut sheets of clean newsprint to wrap all our junk in. So when I unpack, I just flatten and save a few stacks of the best pieces.
I do believe you can call a news printer and ask about getting the ends of the rolls that they use. There's always paper left over on the bolts they use that is considered scrap. But I've never tried that.
