Not breeding anytime soon, but down the line...

I just got my first BP last month, and I'm already thinking about years in the future and possibly breeding him! I have a little super pastel male, and can't decide if I would like to either

1)get a female bumblebee, to produce pastels, super pastels, bumblebees, and killerbees

    or

    2) get a female pied, breed her to my super pastel, get some pastel het pieds, and then breed them either together (lots of different combos of hets, pastels and pieds) or back to the pied (hopefully some pastel pieds!)

or should i just start saving up and do both eventually? Again, this wouldn't be for years down the line, but I'm just curious to see what you guys would do.

    Thanks for the input!

Re: Not breeding anytime soon, but down the line...

The planning and dreaming of future possibilities is 9/10's of the fun. Both sound like really great projects.

Working with co-doms brings more instant results ("instant" being a very relative term here! LOL) ....while working with a recessive project will take another whole generation to fulfill, if all goes as planned. I'm a lover of all things pied...so if I HAD to pick JUST between those two scenarios with no other options to play with...then I'd probably pick the pied project.

If you're dreaming though...why not add one more female to your project...maybe a female pied....then you can take male offspring from the super pastel litters to breed back to the female pied to kick off your pastel pied project.

    Most of all...enjoy dreaming!!

Good point! Trying both sounds like fun, and I love the idea of all the possibilities. I agree, I love all things pied too. I recently saw a pic of an axanthic pied and I was drooling allllll over the place lol

I haven't been able to find pics of a super pastel pied, it does exist, doesn't it? Been trying google and no luck.

Personally I would get a spinner, then you can get lemon blasts, bumblebees, and spinner blasts!! All of which are amazing morphs!! Sorry I didnt choose one of the choices you posted, I just love the spinner!!

I would definitely go with the Pied. (If not both) Recessives are definitely a way to go... Especially female. You can do SO much with an adult Piebald female in your collection!

That'd be a hard decision for me if I could only choose one! I'm a big fan of pieds, but the bumblebee and killerbee are the ones that got me started in ball pythons!! Just love a nice bumblebee and can't get enough of a killerbee!! I'd just go for both! Get one now and then the other one next season. Prices will be a little lower on the second one depending on when you were to get it.
