Please Identify.
Caught this snake behind my house the other day. I believe it is a Florida Earth Snake but not sure. Can anybody help me identify it. If so what are the care instructions for it?

Re: Please Identify.
Its definitely a pretty snake thats for sure. That being said, I wouldnt recommend keeping it as a pet...I dont like to encourage keeping random backyard snakes as pets..especially if you dont know the care requirements for them..just my opinion..

Where are you located? Looks like a pine woods snake.

can you get a closer picture?? looks like a Storeria Dekayi (Dekayi brown snake)
the snakes down south are redder in hue than the ones in NY.
Care is simple, as long as you are not breaking any laws, and if I remember correctly Florida is really lax in that department..
They eat worms (cut up night crawlers are ideal) garden slugs and snails.

I'm not sure that that's a storeria dekayi (Florida Brown Snake). It doesn't look like it is keeled.
If the scales are smooth, then that could be a Florida Pinewoods snake. Check out the belly of the snake - the pinewoods snake has a uniform whitish yellowish hue.
If the scales keeled then yeah, it can be the storeria dekayi or brown snake (tan belly) or the storeria occipitomaculata or redbelly snake (reddish/orangey/yellowy belly).

BP owner since Oct 2008, so yeah, I'm no expert.
0.1.0 pastel bp
1.0.0 spider bp
0.1.0 albino bp
1.0.0 bumblebee bp
1.0.0 yellowbelly bp
0.0.1 normal bp
1.0.0 normal western hognose
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

With that picture, it's hard to tell if the scales are keeled or not.
A nice closeup will be most helpful.
