    2 simple quick questions.

Our BP lives in a vivarium and today her hinged in the middle screen top finally arrived!(OMG this is SO MUCH better! No more lifting her entire lid with lamps off anymore!)

We had a regular screen top before and had problems with humidity so we used a wet towel(changed frequently before it smelled) but when we got her new hinged screen top today we decided to go with the "tin foil" method as well as adding some spagnum moss to her tank and it works so much better! Now we will not have to wash an extra load of laundry each week because of her towels and no more misting every few hours to keep her humidity up!

    I now have 2 questions:

1: I read on here that when doing the tin foil treatment that they don't need that many air flow holes. That sort of thing could be taken differently by different people though. I just want to make sure she has adequate air flow so her air doesn't become stagnant. She has 5 quarter coin sized air holes in various locations on the "cool" side of her vivarium. Her temps and humidity levels are optimum but I worry about her air now.

Is 5 quarter sized coin holes spread out variously on her cool side of the tank too little or not?

2: I'm not a huge fan of her cage "clips". They work very well but are a small nuisance that if I could eliminate safely I would. I heard you can use "velcro" to secure the top of the tank....is that true? I am skeptical of velcro being secure enough because I don't want an escapee! But If that does work I would be more than happy to switch to velcro.(her "clips" are a very petty nuisance but I would rather her be safe than escape)

Anyone know if velcro to secure her top would be adequate or not?

1.) I assume you have a hole on the tin foil on the warm side for the lamps right? So, the big hole for the lamp on the warm side plus the 5 holes on the cool side is plenty sufficient to provide the necessary airflow.

    2.) I wouldn't trust velcro.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

    1. Your holes sound fine.

    2. I've never tried velcro to secure a lid, and wouldn't trust it. These guys are amazingly strong AND determined. Even if it seemed to be working for awhile...they would keep pushing and pushing and eventually get it to open. Also, velcro weakens over time and multiple uses.

She has holes on her warm side cut exactly to the size of her lamps. She does not have any "air flow" holes on her warm side though.

Well that is kinda what I figured. It's not that big a deal at all though. Her hinged lid and now the tinfoil treatment are already making things so much easier now that I am overjoyed and the cage clip thing is just such a minor problem in comparison anyway! I'm just so overjoyed with her new hinged lid and tinfoil treatment!
