How do you prove a genetic pattern?
So how exactly do you prove a pattern genetic?, im not talking pins or spiders, im saying like what people like to call genetic reduced or genetic stripe (not the recessive morph) and things like that.
I mean how exactly can you tell it genetic? i mean i take a reduced patern snake breed it, am i hoping 50% look her it and 50% come out normal patterned? offspring do tend to look like their parents (i know omg!) so how do you really tell if its genetic vs just being passed down from parents?
is it just do enough breedings and make a conclusion?

Yeah honestly, it's just going through the generations and proving out that when bred to a normal female, most of the clutch turns out like the dinker project. You might have to go through 5 breeding's before you get everything figured out, that's why unless it's a great new import, most breeders won't even bother proving out a dinker.

Re: How do you prove a genetic pattern?
if its co-dom its normally a little easier, you take two that "look like the parent" and breed them to the parent in question, normally there will be a different looking super if they are co-dom. but depending on your odds and how "different" the change is in pattern and/or color, it could take longer to "prove" anything.
but most of the genetic stripe and genetic bands that people talk about is the offspring tend to look slightly similar to their parents mixed together. Which is basically what all offspring are, a mix of their parents.

Anything that is passed down to the little ones is genetic. Now if it is a gene worth passing and dinking with is the question, and if it is res or dom or co dom is the hard part.
If you have a "Normal" with a interesting pattern or color and you have time to see what you can do with it. I say why not!
