My kingsnake may be hurt
My kingsnake is around 24g and i opened up his tub to spot clean some poop. He was inside his hide, i took out the dirty paper towel and was about to replace it when he darted out of his hide and then out of his tub.
I managed to grab his tail and i was holding on to him to get better control before i can safely get him back in the tub, but he was wrapped around the wiring behind the shelf. I definitely did not tug at him, but he was trying to pull away while i was holding on to him. It felt he was really stretching his body because he was trying to pull away so hard. I was finally able to get both hands on him and put him back into the tub, but i'm really worried that i may have damaged his spine or muscles. He seemed to move around ok and he didn't look hurt, but the way i felt his body stretch while he was trying to pull away from me did not feel good.
I feel so bad for him. Does anyone know if a kingsnake's body is more resilient than it appears/feels?
Lesson learned... always put the snake in a separate secure enclosure while cleaning the tub.

Re: My kingsnake may be hurt
They're very able to twist and turn and stretch and recover. If it's moving normally already I doubt you did any damage.
Post up some pictures to be sure if you like, but I wouldn't worry.

He's a red hypo brooksi, so he's colorful like a corn snake, but if you look at the shape of his head, you can tell he's a kingsnake.

No worries. The brooksi are particularly tough.

yeah they can be fast suckers when they want to. yeah not a corn unless there's some new banded phase. aint even a king it's a milksnake if not mistaken
but all in all snakes are very tough if you was hurting him he would of turned around and bitten you. some will turn around and bite sooner then others so it just depends on the snakes normal attitude. but i doubt you did any damage. would be different if you pulled while he was wrapped around the cords. i keep my cords so i can pull gently and i pull cord and snake out from behind everything.
