need quick suggestions...

Hey i have a question and a suggestion, first my husbandry is perfect according to the manual, but since i added the infared light to bump up ambient temps from 78 to 83 my bp doesnt come out of warm hide as much anyone know y, and i need suggestions on F/T vs live i know the reasons behind both, but im feedin live rats right now he's inbetween rat pups and small rats, but last week my guy didn't have any and gave me an adult mouse, which he didn't want anything to do with he just killed it, he didnt hold it as long as normal either so i froze the rat then thawed it a day later and heated it up with hair dryer while having it in the box i normally bring home rats in, scenting him, and he took it no problem after that, even "killed" it again, but would it be easier and more economical to switch to F/T if he will, or should i just stay with live?

Seems pretty typical to me, BP rarely come out they tend to spend 80% of their time hiding.

but would it be easier and more economical to switch to F/T if he will, or should i just stay with live?

Feeding is a matter of personal preference either one is fine as long as it's done responsibly.

If F/T are more economical, more convenient and your snake will eat them than go for it, the bottom line is to be knowledgeable about feeding methods and feed what works and is convenient.

For me Live is easier cause i can just go get as many as i need and then just throw them in the tub. I don't want to heat up or thaw out rodents. But for some people who can't get live, frozen thawed is the only option.

His activity seems normal, scenting a mouse with rat scent and vice versa are good ways to get them to convert, but if you can get rats, i would keep that going.

I would stay on FT if you have the time to spare to thaw them out, it's alot safer

again all about being knowledgeble and responsible I feed over 250/300 live prey each months and none of my snakes ever sustained an injury that required my intervention

Again there is not one is better or safer than the other there is knowledge, and preference.

Deborah is correct. I have a four month old male that pounds f/t like there is no tomorrow and then I have a normal that I rescued that will only take live prey. As long as you supervise the live feeding everything should be just fine.

I agree with what's already been said...F/T and live are both fine. I fed F/T for a long time, but now I raise my own rats so its just easier to feed live, and I haven't had any issues with either method.

thank u all i had to get a mouse again cuz the reptile shop is in the process of moving across town and is closed right now but i rubbed him around in the rat carrier and it took jj a min to smell him but he ate him no probs this time, however he did dunk him in the water again, but while he was swallowing him he kept him in the water, so idk, any suggestion on the whole red light prob? or what the deal with dunkin in the water?
