She likes trying to eat it sideways

Sometimes she grabs it by the body and tries eating it like that, takes her forever sometimes to find the head end. Anyone have this?

the same thing happen to me last feeding day, my boy grabed the mouse by the back and at fist tryed to take it down butt end fist, he quickly realize that was a no go, so after flipn it around for a few minutes he finally got it by the head and down it went, the few times this has happened in the past i feel like i wanna help out but they gotta learn on there own and plus i dont wanna risk freaking my boy out during dinner time...i alway try and use my tongs and hold the rodent by the scruff of the neck so my bp gets a sure strike to the head..but sometimes things dont always go as planed lol.

Yeah, mine is just like that! I think he's trying to find out whether it's just a coincidence or not that he can't eat them sidweays.

When Enzo was on smaller mice, he'd end up folding them in half and eating them that way occasionally. Didn't look comfortable going down, but he managed. With bigger mice/rats though, he can't do that and he knows it lol. Just takes him a few extra minutes to get it turned around.

If they are trying or succeeding at eating their food sideways then it is probably too small. Sometimes they will just munch on the sides for a while before they find the head. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes, sometimes it takes an hour. As long as they get it down its fine.

Yeah, sometimes young snakes do it. They usually figure it out after a few times, though I have one big dumb black pastel male that still thinks it's a good idea.

No she never gets it down sideways, just bumped her up to adult mice. She always gets them down straight, just takes her awhile to find the head and where to begin. Last nite she took it sideways, left the room for 25 mins, came back and she was just getting it down.
