    Boa enjoying his rat?

Ok this is the second weaned rat iv fed him since iv owned him. Anyway i gave him a rat, and he struck and coiled it, but then he held it for 15 mins or so looking at it, licking it, kinda looked like he was sayin"mmmmm my dinner, mmmmmm.'' Just seemed like it took him longer to start eating it and getting it down. Any ideas??

    Re: Boa enjoying his rat?

Mine does the same thing She will constrict and "kill" the f/t rat then she will lay it out, sniff every part of it, almost like "licking" it. Then she will eat it about 10-20 minutes later and she usually eats it from the tail (which worries me sick) but she will not try it any other way.

Only 15 minutes, are you joking me

My boa has waited upwards of 45 minutes to start eating. She'll strike and coil and hold it in her mouth for that long before eating. I'd say it's all based on the individual snake. My other boa will coil and give it no longer than a minute and start eating. Sometimes he'll just start horking them down without even coiling.

I have one BP that waits 10 or so minutes. I feed all F/T.
