Weird and Wild type?

I have two snakes that I bought from the same person. They don't look like any normal or wild type that I've ever seen though. Please bare in mind that my experience is still limited to pretty much a year. These snakes don't have any markers for anything that I know of. They also don't have any alien heads though. The external shape for them is there, and a few have one dot like a mojave. However for the most part they just look almost banded? I'll post pictures later, but i just wanted some input as to what all of the at home experts thought.

Normal, "wild type" ball pythons vary a LOT in their appearance. They have a very wide range of colors between high gold and deep chocolate browns....some have no blushing at all and very dark black bands, while others may have tons of blushing and brown bands...some have no flames, some have tons of flames...some have clear white bellies, some have very busy bellies....some have "alien heads" and some have no spots at all. They can have dark heads or faded heads or spots on their heads and other atypical pattern markings.

What you're describing sounds like a typical "reduced pattern" normal ball python. (Pics WOULD help, of course!)

What makes a "morph" is when the specific color and/or pattern trait you are seeing can be predictably reproduced with selective breeding. There are some "genetic reduced patterns" out there, but most often, it's a random trait. The only way to know for sure is to breed it out and see if the trait passes on to offspring.

I don't have all the information in the world, but according to Hunter's Morph guide they do not show markers for True or Genetic Reduced Pattern. I believe that it is genetic however, because the snakes are siblings and both have the same pattern going on. I will post pictures this evening when I get out of work.

What makes a "morph" is when the specific color and/or pattern trait you are seeing can be predictably reproduced with selective breeding.

What makes it a morph is the fact that it is not selectivly bred. I can take a lesser + any random snake and still get lessers. Selectivly bred would mean for example you took two reduce pattern snakes and bred them together to hopefully make even more reduced pattern babies, but they are not a morph, just selectivly bred.

I believe that it is genetic however, because the snakes are siblings and both have the same pattern going on.

Usually siblings look alike, kinda like how you and your siblings look alike (if you have any), having the same parents does that, i would think something might be going on if they had polar opposite patterns.

alot of people like to think their snakes are somethign their not, and even if you get your picture to load, unless they scream "morph", (which reduced pattern doesn't) we can't tell you if its genetic, you'll have to breed em multiple times to something that doesn't look like them to find out, because their babies will tend to look like them also.

stick with the fact that you got a nice normal, most of us do.

That's what I already counted on. Most of my normals are top notch. Those two are really reduced looking, hopefully that's genetic. If not they still look cool. My Adult female looks like a black back. She's going with the pastel male this year. Both of my mojaves are essentially glowing.

Besides, it doesn't matter. The important part is...I LOVE BALL PYTHONS!!!
