    Lake Trip

So this past weekend me and the fiance went out to the lake to kinda get away from the city and try to enjoy some peace and quiet. we got away from the city but not the noisy ppl o well thats life. on our trip we experienced some of the lovely wildlife Arizona has to offer everything from owls that have wingspans as wide as my truck and mice and my very first rattlesnake ever! 20 years living in this desert never seen one before. but i have seen everything else Gila Monsters, Scorpions Tarantulas, and Horny Toads. anyways i was maybe 3 feet away from this beautiful rattler and right as i hit the button on my phone to take a picture he started rattling and it scared the bejeebus out of me definitely was not expecting that and pretty much i missed out on the picture cuz it scared my fiance too and she wanted me back in the truck lol. anyways long story short it was an amazing weekend and i enjoyed seeing the wildlife o and one of the 3 owls we saw nearly landed on the hood of my truck as we were driving scary stuff right there well i hope everyone else had a great fun filled weekend and ill try to post some pics later of our little campsite we had set up out at the lake thanks for stopping by and reading

Sounds like a blast! It's about to be 9 months of crappy winter here, so it's too cold to do anything fun T_T

Your sooo lucky though. I wish we had "exotic" nature here. All we have in the way of reptiles/amphibians is wood frogs...which..it's cool that they freeze solid in the winter and thaw in the summer, but still...What I would give to go herping down in the states!

You can't imagine how awesome going down to florida/Alabama/south states, 3 years ago was for me. Scorpions, frogs, snakes, lizards, tortoises!! Bahhh it was great.

    Re: Lake Trip

Ya its alot of fun seeing animals in the wild i never really go "herping" i just go out camping at the lake or out in the desert and animals just come across my path like if u ask any other arizonans about Gila Monsters and how many they have seen they will probably say 0 or 1 my dad saw his first one at 38 years old and i saw mine that same day at age 8 or 9 and i have not seen one since they are very elusive creatures and i did some research on the rattler i saw and it was either a Mohave Rattle Snake or a Western Diamondback but im leaning towards Mohave cuz it wasnte very big o and scorpions i would go looking for when i would be out with my dad fishing and we ran out worms for bait lol and i guess when i was a baby the apartment i lived in was infested with scorpions lol real good for having babies in lol
