Always sex your snakes yourself...
Got this butter a while back as a female and I was doin some stuff with the snakes and saw sperm plugs on "her". Never had a male in with it so I knew it had to be....a male. Is up to 1000 grams and was hoping I'd have another female ready soon but no...thats not the case and luckily the seller is taking care of the situation. He still is a different looking butter so I'm fine with keeping him...gonna throw him to a few normal girls to see whats going on with that pattern.

Beautiful snake and great advice.
I have been owned a few times myself trusting the seller

Are you sure it's sperm plugs? Sometimes the female scent glands get a build up of sorts.
Probe...or see if you can get a hemipene to pop out. Only way to be 100% sure.

This.
I've had females leave me parts of shed skin in their water dishes that LOOK like sperm plugs.

I agree, females also have secretions that can fool someone into thinking that they are sperm plugs. Have you popped it and seen 'penes or probed it to be sure?

Yeah I know the difference between the two when I see them...I've been breeding for close to 10 years now. I popped him to be certain and it is a male for sure. I was told it was probed quite a few times before I got him and I got him from a friend so I rusted it. He is pretty difficult to pop though. Oh well it happens here and there...that's why everyone should sex your own snakes when getting them so its your own fault if its mis-sexed instead of someone else's down the road.

Oops! Glad the seller is doing right by you... since you are keeping the male, are you getting a discount on a new female or something?

At least it's a lesser and not a normal. I had that happen when I FIRST got into ball pythons. Bought a baby female normal to breed to my male pastel (before I had some of the stuff I have now like my cinny, yb, spider etc)
Got "her" up to size...got all excited for breeding season aaaaaaand...male.
I was devastated. Gave him away and laid off pythons for a year. (Kept my male though)
Ordered some proven breeders from a dude who is no longer in the business after that.

earlier last breeding season I found out a proven breeder female....was a male. seller made it right tho, he thinks he got the snakes mixed up for some unknown reason. shipped me out another female of similar size free of charge.

Yeah I was actually in the middle of buying another butter 900 grams or so, so I got a little bit of a discount on that one.
