    craigslist pick up

well basic back ground, I picked up this BP from craigslist ... told it was female, I haven't probed it to be sure yet but will say it's a female (just use to calling it a her).
she is very skinny (1300 gr) aprox. 4ft long, was told she is 4 yrs old.
has some scars from bites that looks to have healed.

has a bad right eye and looks like the on set of maybe scale rot on her belly.
the cage looked like it might have had pine shavings in it before I got her.

She is now set up in the tank with news paper and eating like she hasn't ate for a year on FT (I was told she wouldn't take FT).
No signs of RI, her belly doesn't seem to be getting worse and of course her eye is a mess... in hopes it will clear up with time as she sheds.

anyways here is a couple pictures of her eye and belly.
    input/thoughts welcome...

OH ...and yes she is in QT.
waiting for her to shed out to post more pictures

Bless you for helping that poor girl ! And how wonderful she is eating for you !!!

This should make her go into shed pretty soon, and that will give you an idea what you're working with. The discolored belly scales will probably just shed out.

    Now the eye..oy.

I think I would have a vet look at that. I'm not sure how it is with snakes, but I know with other animals a damaged eye can be very painful, and removing that eye is a great relief to the animal, as it stops the pain...

Hopefully it can be saved, though.

    Re: craigslist pick up

Good luck to you- it's sad that she wasn't treated properly wherever she was last
How's her personality? I.e how well socialized with people is she?

she seems to have a bit of cage aggression right now but seems to be getting better with each regular meal she gets.

I had to touch her with something the first few times I went to take her out, now I just watch her real close when I go to get her out and just pet her a couple times before I take her out.

Once out she is a sweet heart, curious wanting to check everything out.

I have noticed when I do feed her she will strike at the heat source first then just start striking at any kind of heat she can find.
I have to take my hand along the glass of the tank to get her to fallow it to the rat.

    Re: craigslist pick up

well she has gone into shed now.
her bad eye seems a little flat compered to the other, but I am still in hopes it
will go back to normal once she sheds out.

so far she is doing well, the cage aggression has all but gone since I put her in a tote a few weeks ago, hasn't missed a meal till this weeks feeding (because of being in shed) and even let me get her out tonight while in full blue without a fuss

It sounds like she's doing a lot better since you picked her up! Craigslist is hit and miss with anything, but especially with living breathing creatures. I'm glad somebody responsible has her now, it sounds like she's got a good home and hopefully she'll live to a ripe old age!

    Re: craigslist pick up

    Just another update

she has shed now and the eye looks 100% better.
it still seems to be a little smaller then the other (to me) though.
here is a picture of the shed from her head, you can see the damaged eye and it appears to be more then one layer on the eye cap.

    the eye looking all better.
you can also see a scar on top of her head (possibly the same thing that damaged the eye).

and here is a full body shot of her being shy LOL
