I'd say all personal preference for the colors. The only thing I'd recommend health wise is make sure the spider wobble isn't so bad that its affects eating.

x3 on checking for a serious wobble....although there is no guarantee that it won't worsen as they get older.

As for appearance, it's really personal preference. Some people like the busier patterns...some people like as reduced a pattern as possible. Some people like high white sides...some like as little white as possible. It really comes down to what YOU like to see and what traits you'd like to TRY and pass on to your future bees.

Hard to describe, here is a video of what a wobble looks like:

Sometimes its so bad that they can't aim to strike.
The wobble looks a little goofy but as long as they still eat ok the wobble really is no big deal. I own 4 BP's with a spider gene in them and they all grew out of their wobbles. I've heard some keep the wobbles and I've heard rarely that they get worse with age.

One more spider trait is that they tend to be more curious and outgoing than the average BP.

there's different things to look for that you can decide what makes the spider a good looking one.

colors: there's dark brown spiders and there's some really gold spiders.

patterns: there's spiders with a single dorsal stripe that has thin lines going all the way down to the belly. there's spiders with a double stripe. there's reduced patterns and busy patterns.

sides: there's also high white and low white spiders.

minor trait: one thing i look for that i'm unsure if most people care, but i like a spider with a cool head pattern. they have cool looking head patterns sometimes

"wobble": the wobble thing is another thing that can determine the quality of the spider.. just because you may purchase a spider with little to no wobble, that doesn't mean it will produce spiders with little to no wobbles.. it is my understanding that the wobble comes with the gene and some spiders are lucky enough to have little to no wobble.

IMO, i looove a cool head pattern, high gold, single dorsal stripe obviously little to no wobble . dang "slitherin sisters" has the perfect spider IN MY EYES. i don't know how it wobbles, but as far as looks go, it's the best i've seen

As everyone before me has stated Look out for Wobbles.
Other than that it is all up to you, What do you like?

I myself like a Reduced Pattern and Low White Sides.
Lucky for me I found the Girl that fit the Bill and is my Pride and Joy.

Has there ever been 1 reported case of a wobble being so bad it can't eat? I've never herd of 1.
