    Snake eating a Ferret?

Well in the future I would really like to get a ferret, but the problem is I would also like to get a RTB and right now I own a BP. Would this ever cause problems?

    Re: Snake eating a Ferret?

I love ferrets, I have three myself, as well as a ball and a blood python in the near future. As long as you don't let them interact or see each other then it shouldn't be a problem.

Honestly, a ferret would probably kill a young rtb or ball, and when the rtb gets big enough it would probably be able to kill the ferret (maybe not eat it, but still). Just don't let them meet. Please.

As for being tagged or anything, ferret smell isn't really a natural prey item for either of the snakes, so I don't think you would be tagged by them because you smell like food, but maybe a fear tag if anything. Remember ferrets aren't rodents, so your snake won't regard them as food.

Well as long as you stay responsible and let them get together you won't have anything to worry about. I have pet rats, and I keep them in different rooms and always wash after handling them to avoid any troubles. It's all about being responsible!

What about your shirt. My wife just got a genie pig. I worry about not only washing my hands, but do You think that the smell of one on your shirt can cause some trouble? ?

    Re: Snake eating a Ferret?

It depends on the snakes, I have snakes that will try to eat me if have any rat smell, some that will only strike at a rat never me, and then I have a carpet python that I could have him and a rat out at the same time and he'd never take it because he only eats f/t I leave in the cage over night with him

But guinea pigs are also rodents, they have a similar scent to rats and mice, which are natural prey.

Ferrets are NOT rodents. Their natural prey is actually mice as well, they're obligate carnivores. Not to mention their very distinct smell. All those factors mean that a snake would probably never even consider going near a ferret, let alone try to eat one, unless maybe it was starved.
