Rack Temps
We had an unseasonaly cool day today about 75 and my ambient temps in my rack droped down to 75 as well. I am not to worried because tomorrow is susposed to be 90, however I would like some ideas on how to better control the temp during the winter.
The room temp during the winter will be around 70. Its a malamine rack 32qt sideways with belly heat set at 92. I am afraid to get a space heater due to fire hazard risk.
Any Ideas?

What are you using for a thermostat?

Re: Rack Temps
I am using a ranco. My belly heat is spot on its the ambient temps I am concerned about, is there a way to insulate the rack so it holds temps better?

Re: Rack Temps
or would adding a second heat strip on the cool end and setting it to 83 make a difference.

Ive never really had a prob with ambient temps with a closed in rack, My house stays about 70-72 in the summer, so I adjust my thermostats accordingly to bump the temps up a bit.

Re: Rack Temps
It is a closed rack but it is open on the long side so I can fit 2 15 qt tubs side by side as well. If I bump up the warm side it would burn the snake it's currently reading 93 with a temp gun. Its the air temp that I am concerned about it is reading 75 and in the winter it will probrably go down to 70 I want to know if there is a way to bump up the ambient temps with out a plug in radiator.

Did the hot spot go down to 75* or just the ambient temp? if it's the ambient you could add a space heater to the room with a t-stat or add flexwatt to the cool side with a t-stat set to 80*.

Re: Rack Temps
Cool, so the flexwatt would work. I am a little concerned about using a space heater due to fire risk.

Re: Rack Temps
heat tape on the cool side would be fine, just make sure you have it on a separate tstat
