Is 1300 grams an appropriate size?
Is 1300 grams an appropriate size for female hatched July 08? If not, does she still have time to grow? (I don't own this snake, but going to buy it)

sounds fine, i have some 08 snakes that are smaller and some that are bigger, they all grow different.

Do you think she can get any bigger? I have a feeling she hasn't been getting big enough food.

Of course.
Especially if its a female. Just start feeding her regularly and watch the grams add up. They never really stop growing, but just slooooow down. I'd say shes got a bit to go before she stops growing. I got a female that was 1300 grams last year that I didn't breed, and now shes 1800ish. She probably would of put even more weight on but she stopped feeding for a while.

I have five 08's......three of them are 1150 grams, one is 1450 grams, (GREAT eaters) and one is 1050 grams (mouse eater and a little picky). I bought them a few months ago so I do not know what month they were born. I would say 1300 grams from a reputable breeder sounds good. I was looking at some 09's not too long ago from a reputable breeder that were 350-450 grams or so......it varies.

She can definitly get bigger.
I have an '08 female that is weighing in at a little over 1,600g right now. She's hefty but she's picky about food. Go figure.

Also depends on if it was the beginning or the end of the year. There could be almost a year of extra growth if it was born in the beginning.
All my 08s are in the weight range of 1500+ grams.

Re: Is 1300 grams an appropriate size?
I just looked through my old emails and the 3 girls I bought from the same breeder were late 08's. They are all at 1150-1200 grams now. I got them the first week of June and they were all about 750-800 grams empty.

That's a fine size for an 08 female. Mine are actually a little smaller: they were all picky eaters this winter, and now my oldest one won't switch from mice to rats.
She definitely will get bigger, though, and I wouldn't breed her at her current size and age. Do you want to breed her? It's hard to say if she'll make it up to 1500g this season. If you're right about the size of her meals, and she keeps eating, she'll be 1500g easy by November. But sometimes ball pythons go off feed for a month or two when you buy them and bring them home, just because they're stressed by the change in environment.
But if you just keep feeding her and let her grow another year, you'll have a nice 2000g monster by next fall. No problem.
