Re: How many of you have BP's and don't plan on breeding?

    I totally understand.

I have a Bumblebee on the way, as well as a Pastel Het Clown.

I would like to add a couple more beautiful morphs, but then I would have to consider selling my Angolan Python to make room for this Ball Python addiction...

My favorite morphs are the Deserts, especially the Tiger.
I would still keep those as "pets" and on display, rather then as breeders

Very nice. I can't wait till I have some cash after this summer for bumblebee.

I guess in the long run if I wanted to breed, I could always find a breeder and do a loan with the stipulation that I get what I want and he/she gets what they want.

Anyway, just at work with some time to pass so I was thinking about this subject.

Re: How many of you have BP's and don't plan on breeding?

I've got three 6 bps right now, and by the end of next year I'll probably have 9 or 10. I don't plan on breeding, though the snakes I've got would all work well together as breeder pairs if I ever change my mind.

I'm really tempted to breed my spider and pastel in the future, just because they're both stunning examples of their morph/breed, and the resulting bee(s) would probably be fantastic looking. But, for now I think I've sated my herp sweet tooth just collecting. We'll see how long that lasts.

Re: How many of you have BP's and don't plan on breeding?

I only have one "normal" BP and I don't plan on breeding. Unlike a lot of people on this site, I plan to only stick to one snake for quite a while. I'd be going beyond my means if I had more. Sure, I wouldn't mind having a Bumblebee or an Albino, but it just isn't going to happen anytime soon.

    Never say never

I gotta say breeding is pretty awesome, and if it interests you in the slightest you should go for it. Quite a rewarding experience if you ask me. Not for everyone though. My advice is just keep the option out there, and if you feel you can/want to breed its like nike...JUST DO IT

I got 3 bps of different colors. They look awesome in the glass tanks "slice of Africa" theme I got going on.

My husband wanted to buy a bumblebee and asked me for $600. I said, nope. No more snakes. So, he decided to put our pastel and spider together to try for a bee.

Over half a year later, we got 2 bees and a normal in addition to our 3 bp's. I wanted to get them adopted but the kids cried their eyes out. So, we got 3 more pets for now. I don't think I'm going to do the glass tanks for these 3 new guys. It is quite a bit of maintenance for glass tanks. I got 4 glass tanks (also got a hognose) all decked out (spent almost $500 on each one!) in addition to the turtle tank and fish tank. I don't think I can take care of 3 more. So, these new guys are gonna be tub dwellers.

So yeah, never say never on the breeding. Now that I'm building a rack, my husband will probably think of trying out that albino with the spider!

Sometimes it's just easier to let the boys do what they want to do.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Re: How many of you have BP's and don't plan on breeding?

I got a normal male and only planned on one pet snake! After going to a few shows and reading about people breeding and all the different morphs, not only did I buy more, I also got the itch to breed so this season will be my first attempt!

As much as I love BP's and all the cool looking morhps they produce, i'm happy with my 2.

I thought about breeding for a while but it would just be too much. I wouldn't have the time and I don't think i'd be into it. Not to mention that I bet it gets expensive!

Kudos to those who do breed them though.

I share your feelings. I have fallen in love with our BP, and I was one of those people who"never understood why people would want a snake for a pet" Well, now I'm mad over all the cool morphs. I think about breeding some, but it seems like alot of work and something my animal lover side may take to the max if I'm not careful. I am however good on the ideal of getting one more BP, a female Lemon blast or Killer blast just as a pet, but then I will also have the option to make some pretty snake babies too. I'd say just do what feels right, one day you may want to breed and if not no harm done there either, snakes are wonderful pets weather for breeding, lovin on or both
