    Sick Rat?

I think one of my new rats is sneezing, i checked it over but i can't see anything else wrong. But i can hear her, what sounds like, sneezing. Can it be sick and if so is there anything i can do?

It could be sick, or it could be sneezing from dust in the bedding. What type of bedding do you use? Mine sometimes sneeze after I change out their bedding. I would monitor it for a couple of days and see if it gets worse. I'm sure you will get some other advice as their are alot of knowledgeable rat breeders here.

    Re: Sick Rat?

My breeder girl keeps sneezing too. She's on kiln dried red cedar right now, so I plan to switch to aspen this week. At first I was worried about a respiratory infection but usually they get red goop on their eyes and nose with an RI. So I've just been keeping an eye on her, I'm pretty sure it's just the bedding.

    Re: Sick Rat?

I'm using aspen bedding. She's stopped sneezing as much as she was, now its just when their all running around. I think your right about it being the dust in the bedding, I start coughing when I change it. Thanks for the replies!
