i just cleaned my 2 ball pythons cages gave them a once over before putting them in an old mouse cage and didn't see any mites but when i got there cages cleaned and went to put them back in there cages i noticed mites all over them first one that came out of the old mouse cage only had a couple but the one that spent a few minutes longer in the old mouse cage was coated with them and there wasn't any mite before they went in the old cage.
does anybody know if mice carry mites that will move over to snakes if they get a chance and if so anybody know a good way to get rid of mites on mice so when it's feed time they dont crawl off the mouse onto the snake.
i sprayed snakes and there cages down with mite spray i had on hand but it aint safe for mice that i know of and want to get rid of the mites that to me seem to have came from the mice reason i say this is cuase non of my other snakes have been in the old snake cage and all checked out fine no mites but the balls did the other snakes each got there own holding tank for when i clean there cages just aint got around to getting one for the balls yet(but since this happened i will have one by time next time to clean there cages comes around next week-end
