Re: Do you guys think Albino's will be $100 in a couple years?

Lavender albino is a completely separate recessive morph, it's not an albino combo.

To make an albino spider, you would breed an female albino to a male spider, hold back a couple of male spiders from that clutch (they will be het for albino), and then breed one of them back to the female albino. (If he doesn't go, you have another in reserve to try).

You then have a 25% chance of producing an albino spider from that clutch. This isn't the only way to do it, just the fastest and least costly way.

I doubt it, they might drop some more but they probably won't be down to $100.00 At that price point it'll be worth more to the breeder to keep it rather then sell it. Of course I'm sure you'll see the occaisional ad selling albinos or anything else at ridiculously low prices, but that doesn't mean that's what the 'price' is going to be. All that means is that you have a panicy seller scared that she won't be able to recoup her original investment.

I hope not - I hope that they've already hit their bottom.

I think they will come down a little more, but I think they will settle in at around $200 eventually.

I bet many people never thought pastels would ever go down to $100 either......and you can make so many great morphs with pastels, not limited like Albinos. Even $200 is crazy. On another note, spiders seem to be holding around $200+.....for now. Maybe things like bees, mojaves, and other great morphs will mean less people will breed Albinos, who knows.

I for one will hold back all my albinos if they ever get to that price.Just like the female pastels I produce......they are worth more to me as future breeders than a couple hundred bucks!

Probably not in "a couple" years. Eventually, sure? But I think they'll hold tight at $300 for a while and then at $200 for a long time... recessive morphs just aren't as easy to make as pastels. And constantly breeding albino to albino is eventually going to lead to one-eyed snakes and smaller clutch sizes.

Re: Do you guys think Albino's will be $100 in a couple years?

Sorry I was unclear, but yes lavender albinos are a separate line of albino. What I meant by that was that you could own different kinds of albinos in addition to different albino combos and combos of other lines... there are lots of options with albinos

Remember that pastels are actually HETS... Albinos are a homozygous recessive mutation and are harder to produce then co-dominant pastels. I'd be willing to bet that you'll never see the homozygous superpastels at that low of a price.
