    Boa feeding ?

I was just wondering when you guys up the size of the prey. My red tail female weighs 285 grams, and I'm currently feeding mice. I usually feed her one to two depending on the size of the mouse. Does after they hit the 400gram mark sound ok to start feeding small rats?

Most snakes should be fed a size of prey that is about the same size around as snake's body at its widest point.
If you want to feed smaller just up the quanity some.

I agree! With boas it's more about proper size/girth, not so much as the weight itself. I tend to judge the size of smaller rats (30-50g) based on the size of their heads since their heads tend to be larger in relation to the size of their bodies. Other than eyeballing it, the only way to be sure about size is to measure your snakes diameter and then go look for rats about the same size...
