If I remember right, it seems to be a lethal combo. I think it was Tim Bailey who mentioned that, maybe he can chime in if he sees this thread.

Lethal meaning deadly to the animal?

Is there a list of deadly combos somewheres?

    Re: Cant Find Sable Spider

To my knowledge, I know of 4 different breeders that have made the combo (me being one), and none of them lived. What is interesting to me is that Kim at NARC produced a Bumblebee Sable this year that seems to be still alive. I haven't figured out why that is, but it is the only combination of Sable and Spider that I am aware of that has lived. I have a friend that produced Spider Sable Mojaves last year, and they didn't make it, hence the reason for my confusion over what makes the Pastel portion of the Bee Sable and different from the Mojave Spider Sable. It seems like if one extra gene would strengthen the animal, any extra gene should. However, in ball pythons many stranger things have happened. There is still much to learn about the Sable gene, because so little has been done with it (at least publicly).

p.s. My Sable Pinstripe girl is now a year old, and still eating like a horse.

I don't have a pic of a Chocolate Spider, but it is not lethal. I have seen a number of them on Brian's (BHB) table, and have had that discussion with him before. It is the sole reason that makes me have my doubts about Sables and Chocolates being the same mutation.

Read the post above the one you just wrote. I already answered that question.
