    Decided to swap tanks....

After a month of debating I finally moved Tango from the 75 gallon to the 40 gallon breeder. I put all of his things exactly as they were in his 75 so the only difference would be a missing 12 inches of space. I wanted to do it now because tomorrow is feeding day and I want to see if he will still readily eat for me after the move, I left the 75 in its place just incase I need to move him back.
I moved him because the stand his tank is on holds a 40 breeder perfectly under the top, and since I just picked up a Sand Boa and Tarantula, the top will hold the pair of 10 gallon tanks perfect so all my tanks will be in one spot instead of all over my livingroom, it will look much nicer and make my wife happier, lol.

Now I have a question about the UTH...once I manage to get it off without damaging it (dont jinx me!) whats the best way to attach it again to another tank ? I have lots of duct tape but I think it would just peel off from the heat, maybe some of that aluminum heat tape from an auto parts store ? What would you all use ?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Yep the aluminium tape is the best bet.

Don't be too dissapointed if he doesn't eat for you tomorrow - he may need a settling in period again before he feels secure enough to eat. But it all depends on the individual snake.

    Re: Decided to swap tanks....

So far so good but feeding time is still a few hours away. I set it up exactly the same as before and like the 75 gallon it only took a couple minutes for him to head back under the water dish, so I really hope he continues his great eating habbits so I can sell the 75 gallon - $50 with a screen top, I hope it sells fast, lol.
I finally got a nice shot of it all up and running, and I got the UTH back on with no trouble, I turned the thermostat way up and peeled it off while it was hot, and all but one little corner of the glue came off with it so I was able to just stick it to the 40. I use the nice ZooMed ceraminc heat emitters, but I was running a 150W for the 75, so I picked up a smaller 60W for the 40 gallon. The light on the left is a tiny 25W flood light to make the tank look nice since its down on the floor and kinda dark.

Here it is all set up...new center hinged screen top, and new background.

I fixed my corner to look a little better, my Gecko is to the left out of frame.

Those little silver light dome are only $5.44 at Menards and rated to 75W, the bigger one below on Tango's cage is only $6.44 and rated to 250W.
The top left is my Tarantula, I am only using a super tiny 7.5W bulb to enhance viewing without dehydrating my T, the Sand Boa has a 50W spot heat bulb for the hot end. You can see part of my timer behind the 40 gallon, my cords are still a mess though.

    Re: Decided to swap tanks....

He is eating and right on schedule...awesome!

I just set the F/T right next to the hole he makes under his water dish, blew on it a couple times to get the smell under there and he came right out in like 30 seconds, now I can sell that monster 75 real cheap to get it out of here, lol.
