How fast it the reptile community growing?

I have noticed an influx of new members in the past months. I have also noticed every time I go into the pet store, the ball pythons and other reptiles are sold out. Do you think the community is growing at a rapid pace or just a small reptile phase among the population where every one is looking for the next cool pet. It is easy to see that people are becoming way more open minded about snakes and other reptiles as pets.

Not fast enough. Consider the number of eggs 1 BP produces, the average number of snake/owner and the number of people breeding. It's kind of worrying.

Oh, and as I have said many times in the past: I would rather give a snake away for free to someone who I know in real life who I have supervised their setup construction than sell to someone I didnt know about.

Reptiles are still a fringe pet, but with so many children with allergies to furry pets, reptiles seem to be accepted more for these folks. Lizards seem to fit the bill for these folks. Snakes are running a distant second to lizards. Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos lead the way. Snakes are being seen as another option but not to the level of these lizards.
