    Re: name your snakes?

I call mine Kittie. Mostly just to confuse people when they ask what her name is.

There's really no point though. Imposing human characteristics or names on an animal is pretty silly, particularly if the animal has no way of communicating or responding to a name.

I suppose that wouldn't stop most people, though. It's a rather interesting demonstration of the human ego. We personify everything, whether animal or deity.

My normal female is named Solara.
After Mila Kunis' character in the movie The Book of Eli
Off topic but my car is named Mikaela. After Megan Fox's character in Transformers.

    Re: name your snakes?

I like to try to put a name to all of my animals. But I find it harder and harder to think of them let alone remember them all as my collection seems to grow and grow...

I agree. I named my snake Bones. My cars even have names. No definitive reason that I did it. I guess the best way I can say is that it is just my way of making things mine.

    Re: name your snakes?

I just can't name something that doesn't have a personality, it's like naming rocks. I did a pole on this a couple years ago, and I think I was one of three people that didn't name their snakes

    Boring
    Lays There All Day
    Hidey Hole
    Sleeps With Eyes Open
    Grumpy
    Bump on a Log

Those are the only names I can think of, so I just don't bother

I do name all my breeder rats though They are cute and cuddly and they LIKE to see me and be pet.

Geckos definitely have a personality. I know this was originally just a thread about snakes (I think they have personality too, but it's more obviously evident with geckos), but I couldn't let that one pass. Our leopard gecko pretends to be grumpy, but she's really a big softie. Our crestie has, um, "personality" as well. She's kind of a hyperactive court jester, and also likes to watch football (which my GF watches, but I do not; clearly it's her fault the gecko likes it).

They both have names - the leo is Tigger, and the crestie is Poohbear (her head is definitely stuffed with fluff, plus she's just about the right color). When we eventually find a leachianus a home with us, it's almost certainly going to be named Fezzik, because we both love that movie, and well, it's not the leachie's fault being the biggest and the strongest. I'd also like to get a rainbow boa or carpet python at some point, and while I haven't got that name figured out in advance like the leachie, I'm sure it'll come to me at some point - usually it's based on traits the animal displays for me.

I just can't see not naming an animal, even if it doesn't respond to commands...
Mountain bikes are for slow people, and reptiles are far better pets than cats & dogs!
