Bellamy won't eat... I blame it on stress?

    Hi guys,
So I've had my Bellamy for just over two weeks now, and tried to feed him f/t rat the other day (which is what he was eating before I got him)

    some stats:
in 30 gallon long glass tank
    75-80 on the cool side
close to 100 on the hot side
    50% humidity
(my room is very hot even without his uth)
he has 2 hides and a sheet over the tank for additional privacy
he hides most of the day, but gets very active, climbing all over.. about twice a day

** he has been handled a lot in the week prior to his feeding. I assume this has caused stress. should I leave him completely be for a week, then try feeding again?**
    Thanks

    edit: he is full grown

I keep Furio and Lily hot spots at about 90.. 100 seems a bit high to me...

100 is too hot. You may want to give the snake another week of isolation. Moving into a new enclosure can be stressful. Give it time.

100 is definitely to hot. Shoot for 90 on the hot side. Leave the snake alone for another week before you try feeding it again.

    I shoot for...

    78-80 cool side
    86-87 hot side ambient
    hot spot of 90-92

100 is too hot for any part of the tank IMO

Re: Bellamy won't eat... I blame it on stress?

With my snakes I go through hell the first 2 weeks after I get them. I leave them alone. They come in, go through a de-miting procedure (wiped with De Flea then water) get pictures taken of them, handled for a bit to gauge their stressed attitude, then they are put in their tub, and left alone. It kills me every time, it is just so hard to do. 2 weeks of being left alone, then they are offered food, then left alone, following week offered food, left alone, offered food the next week. If they ate all 3 times, then I start handling them for no more than 15 minutes every 2 days, then 15 minutes every day if they eat for another 2 weeks.

That's my procedure and it works for me. Just know that I have had snakes that struck prey on the second week, and ones that didnt eat until the fourth week.

Your hot side, as has been said, needs to drop down to 90. Block off 3 sides with something (I wouldnt block off all 4 as the sheet may be because lifting that sheet may be a little shock to him).

ok, thanks everyone. I'll just leave him be.
and yeah, I know it's too hot.. I'm having a really hard time controlling the temps right now because we're going through a heat wave and my house has no A/C.

Are you controlling the UTH with a thermostat? If you arent then I would suggest either getting one or a rheostat. I use the latter for my QT tank and it works well and doesnt cost much. But for around 30$ you can get an on/off thermostat and for around 130 I think you can get a Helix proportional.

Ok, sounds like a necessary investment. We have both extreme summers and winters, and I don't want to be worrying about how that effects my snake's tank.
