Housing a Sand Boa

I don't have a rack system, so other then that, whats the cheapest way to house a kenyan sand boa? Pictures are always helpful.

We do not keep our sands in a rack.


Sand or crushed walnut shell.....overhead heat.

We have a 20 long aquarium with 3'' or so of sani-chips in the bottom with a uth on one side and a water bowl in the middle. 3 Females have been living in this set up for almost 2 years now with no problems. They hide in the substrate all over the tank and are taken out and fed seperately every week.

I keep my 2 females in a 29 gallon tank, with aspen shavings as a substrate, an UTH on one end, and i also offer them a hide, even though they do burrow underneath the shavings. I keep males in a 10 gallon, same substrate, etc. These setups have worked great with me, and of course i feed each snake in a separate container.

We keep ours in a cheap homemade rack that holds 5 large kitty ltter pans and has back heat. We keep them on Sani-chips, and feed in the enclosure. Mine have been like this for 4 years, and we are expecting our second litter in 2 years this way. I always judge a group of animals happiness by wether or not they reproduce. A snake that reproduces viable offspring obviously have ideal conditions, or they would not breed and successfully have offspring.
