question and update
so lucy is incubating her eggs and doing an amazing job! she's an amazing mother and only a hiss when she's had enough of my prodding...lol so cute. All seven eggs have strong veins now for a better flashlight for better pics. Any whoo I have noticed she is quite a bit thinner now should I offer her a small rat? or something smaller and should I remover her to do it? Also Kona will be due to lay her eggs around the 31st of this month i have my doubts about letting her incubate her own eggs any suggestions? would it be possible to add hers to lucy's clutch or should I just prep an incubator?
sorry so long just sudden thoughts and presnake granny fears

Re: question and update
If you are letting your female incubate her own eggs, I would not try and feed her.
Not because she won't eat (which she may not), but because any jostling of the eggs she is carefully protecting while she is eating, is a bad idea.
And as for the other female incubating another female's eggs, I would not recommend it.
Females let eggs roll out of their coils if there are too many, and if there is something wrong with them.
If you put MORE new eggs in there, there is no guarantee that the incubating female will take them, much less take care of the ones she currently is coiled around.
Get an incubator Much less stressful (to a point).

Being thin while brooding isn't such a bad thing. The eggs fit within her coils better that way, imo. If you offer food, I wouldn't use a small rat. I'd offer something a bit smaller - a rat pup or small adult mouse - if anything at all. I did offer my females food recently (live rat pup) and one of them ate while the other was completely disinterested. Another poster here, anatess, is also maternally incubating and said their female has been eating every 10 days. I suppose it's all up to the female in question.
I would say no to adding additional eggs to the existing clutch. I don't know if she would or wouldn't accept them but I believe it would just cause too much stress. If you don't want a second female maternally incubating, just make sure you've got an incubator ready for them.

I did see ur post and i am amazed at how few people are letting them incubate on their own though I can see the stress of letting them oh I am so anxious or is it just as bad with an incubator oh my I think I see more grey hairs

Put a post on Craigslist in your local area. Make the add say say something like "Looking for a broken upright freezer in good shape I'll pick up free of charge"
Buy some big apple heat cord and use a hot glue gun to secure it along the sides and back. Drill 3 holes in the side of the freezer one for the heat rope exit one for the temp probes and one for the heat controller probe. Put a good temp controller on the top of it. If you dont breed alot of snakes just use a mini fridge.

Re: question and update
I found a wine fridge on craigslist. I like it better than a mini fridge because it has a glass door. I used a foot and a half of 11' flexwatt and a herpstat. I think I can get 8 maybe 10 6qt sterilites in it. Hope that helps.
