MY SNAKE WONT EAT. please help!!!!?

hi i have a ball python i've had him for 8 weeks he hasn't ate yet an now im starting to get worried
he's a baby snake about 17in
he has a 20gallon long tank with
repti-bark
2 hides, large water bowl
undertank heater
basking light or heat lamp what ever you call it
60 watt bulb plants trees everything it about 96 on hot side 83 on cool
he's a very active snake at night an a great pet but he just will not eat

i try to feed him a fuzzy ever Friday once a week but he just does nothing i wiggle it ive took him out of his enclosure to feed him ive even tried inside of his tank he just doesnt want it what doe i do pls

an i got it from lllreptile they tried to help bu no luck

Well there isnt a whole lot i know about lllreptile but usually all their reptiles are guarenteed feeders. have you tried live? sometimes the facility feeds live and it does take time to change to f/t but i dont know if anyone here represents them and can clear weather or not they do. i have heard of other remedies such as putting the mice in tuna. maybe asf"s they say once they start they wont go back to mice.

Your warm side is a little to hot. Try to drop it down to 90 and your cool side should be about 80. I think that the tank might be a little to big too. You should try a 10 gallon tank or a 6 to 15 quart tub for a snake that small. Have you tried feeding a live hopper mouse? Sometimes baby snakes need live prey to jump start their appetites. I'm sure someone with more experience then myself will give you advice also.

Asf's is a african soft fur rat which is a ball pythons native food. they are sometimes hard to find but usually will make a python eat, the tuna thing has worked a few times in the past. it was something i picked up from BHB. i tossed a f/t in a ziplock with a spoon of canned tuna shook and rolled and that seemed to intrest the snake a little more with the extra scent. but for the most part if the snake is coming out at night they are usually comfortable in their surroundings. they like to hide when nervous or scared. so it seems the setup is fine. I think the biggest thing is to keep the intrest in eating up. feed in the evenings when he is more active and you can try the different methods and something might just set off a non stop eating monster. but hopefully we will get a few more ideas on here also. i hope he eats soon let us know

I leave in with my young ones, over night. and its usually gone..

how long do you try for?

lower the temps. Less light. The snake doesnt need a heat lamp and 60watt bulb. Check the humidity? Is it real dry?

Okay, I'm having the same problem with mine that I got from lllreptile about 8weeks ago.......I've tried EVERYTHING, and he will not eat....I made his tank half the size, it's now a little smaller than a 10 gallon, maybe like a 10x10 square. His temps are absolutely perfect, I don't handle him at all, etc...and I've still had zero luck.

i also had a problem with lllreptiles. every animal i got from there has had upper respatory infection. and most of them didnt make it but some did. now i absoloutly 150% do not purchase from them anymore. and i urge you to do the same in the future. so about your feeding problem, try poking holes in a deli cup and put a KO or dead mouse in there with him and leave him alone. put him in a room where it is dark and he wont be bothered and a couple hours later check on him and see if he ate or not. if not i would take him to a pro to be force fed. best of luck.

Since the reviews from LLL are terrible I would recommend taking your BP to the vet ASAP! You can get a check up on him to make sure he is healthy and you can get tips or help on the feeding problem. Try putting you snake in a dark Box/Tub with a live mouse and monitor your snake and the mouse because the mouse can bite this really is for worst case scenario. I feed my BP live every 5 days so its not a big deal but some people have problems with it.

So if the snake refuses all food, live, etc...all methods of feeding, and there's no pros/vets in town, my snake is basically going to starve to death?
