Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
I was walking around my barn on Friday, and was looking at the A/C for my rodent room, when I noticed a butterfly in a Spider web. It was dead, but it appeared to be in very good shape, so I thought I would take the opportunity to get a very good picture of a butterfly (most of the time you spend chasing them and hoping they spread their wings). Here is the best shot I got of this Eastern Tiger Swallotail (Papilio glaucus).
I only have one other butterfly documented on my wildlife page, and it happens to be an Eastern Black Swallowtail. I think a goal for this year is to get some more butterfly pics, as they seem to brighten my day.
Enjoy:

Thanks for looking,

Wow. That is really pretty. have you ever seen a monarch migration? I would love to someday. They are my favorites.

Beautiful find!
We have a bunch of Western Tiger Swallowtails floating around here right now.
I went to my local butterfly pavillion a couple months ago, and was able to get some pretty good pictures. But in the wild they're tough to snap!!
Good luck on getting some more!

I have been seeing those all over and can never get one to sit still for a picture.
Great shot.

This is how I pin them when I find dead ones, if you want to. He's beautiful! You could probably even fix the bit of his wing if you still have the piece, if you read in the comments on the article someone asks how to fix broken wings and they tell you. Good find
