Re: Road trip ??
Why not leave him be? As long as the temps are stable, they could survive for...probably months (not that that'd be a good thing, but hey, they survive at petco). I've taken mine home from college because I didn't trust the temps, and I feel bad for upsetting them like that.

Re: Road trip ??
I've done both! Took 2 guys home with me over Christmas (a 20 hour drive from Houston to Chicago)...They live in tubs so all I had to do was pop the top on and go...just bought 40 hour heat packs for the drive and loaded up their heat pads and thermostat for when I got to my Mom's house. They did great (being in their own tubs made it a breeze). They even ate on schedule while there (a good show for the family members that were curious)! In fact, I think the snakes where more popular than me...there are more pics of my family with them than with me! LOL!
But I've also left them at home while going on vacation, too...I don't have a problem leaving them for a week or two as long as I have a cat sitter who is willing to just make sure the temps are okay (ie. the thermostat is working)!

Re: Road trip ??
Well thats my worry is the temps and humidity . Its realy hot down here in south east texas this time of year and I would feel like crap if somehting went wrong and he also needs water replaced . He has been in the car a few times to go and see a lady that has helped me with him and he does not seem to mind it he is not cranky when u get him out after being in the car . In fact he eat a big good meal after one car ride !
Anyone eles travel with theirs ????

Re: Road trip ??
Car rides are pretty stressful on the animals.
As long as it has enough water and stable temps, and a substrate that won't get soaked if he uses the bathroom or tips his water bowl, then you'll be set.

Re: Road trip ??
I change his water like every day or so . I really do not think that he should have the same water for 7 days ?

awww what a good mommy!! Personally I would leave the snake as he would be fine as long as you have something controlling the temps. Plus he would probably LOVE the peace and quiet. It would be the snakes little vacation as well!! If you are worried you could always arrange someone to come in mid vaca and change water and check on him.

Changing water that often really into necessary. As long as the snake doesn't go to the bathroom in it, the water is fine. I go on vacation every summer for 10 days and leave my snakes home alone. I feed them and water them before leaving and they always do just fine

I am a stay at home mom so I am here all the time so I have not gotten anything to reg the temps because I am here and if I see them going to high or to low I reajust I have paper towel and substrate between him and the bottom of the tank so he will not get burned ( he does not borrow ) and now I if I leave him I am worried he will get to warm or if he's water dries up ect.... And I have no one to come in and help wail I am gone . I feel like carp I got this animal and did not plan for something like this Its not his fault I am a bad snake owner . I just thought that taking him with me would guarantee that he would be ok and taken care of .
