Is it worth waiting at the expo?

So I'm going nuts over here. After doing about three months worth of research I finally decided that I do want a ball python and not a colubrid. But now since I KNOW that I will be getting one I just can't wait. Everyday I have this internal battle of whether or not to buy one at the expo (Reptile Super Show June 26-27) or just order one online NOW.

I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying one at the expo only because that way I don't have to pay for shipping which means I can spend more money on the actual snake.

What I am wondering though is: do you think it will be worth it going on the Sunday of the show to get those "last minute" deals that I keep hearing about? Or should I just follow my gut and get in there Saturday and bring home something I find really pretty?

    Thanks for your input!

you've been waiting SOOO LONG .. just go the first day and find the best price for the ball python you want. It'll make me feel better than to know that I waited last minute and there wasn't actually anything i really liked (even if the prices are cheaper)

I'm waiting for the white plains expo on July 11th.. I've been waiting 3 months already.. even though I have other ball pythons.. It's pretty hard waiting if you know you want to get some more.

I always go when the doors first open so I get first pick! You may get a better deal at the end but it may not be your first choice morph.. It depends on what you are looking for. If you want any morph then go at the end but if you want a certain morph then you need to go at the beginning! If you want a normal then go at the end because there is lots of those!

It is worth the wait! I have bought all 10 of my balls from shows! It is best to pick them out in person. You also get a better idea of their temperament. I always show up an half hr or so before it starts. The best looking examples of the morph you want get snatched up real quick.

If you are looking for a specific morph, check to see if the show has a vendor list. You can try contacting the vendors beforehand to see if they will have what you are looking for. That way you can show up with a list of specific vendors to search out. Also, if there is a vendor that has what you want, you may be able to order the snake online and they will deliver it to the show for you. If you don't have anything in particular in mind, and just want to see what catches your eye then get there early. Maybe even check to see if they offer VIP tickets, which usually, will let you in an hour early to get a head start...

Wait for the show. This way you can see the snake in person. You'll feel better about the purchase. There are a lot of vendors at the San Diego show. I am sure you will find a deal with someone. I went last year. It was my first show. Amazing.
