Help! dying frog :(

So yesterday, I found this wild tree frog in a corner inside my house, i thought it was dead but turns out it was alive with a huge chunk of its skin missing and its organs showing. Not knowing how to put it out of its misery, I just took it to a nice bush outside hoping it would die in peace.

Turns out its got more life than i expected in it, and it somehow managed to come back to my house where its hanging out on the door, in even worse condition.

It almost looks like the skin just cracked off of its body. Is this some genetic defect or an accident? I'm tempted to take care of it since it came back, but I have no idea how or if theres even a point.

It's hard to see the extent of damage, but it looks pretty severe. It's a hard situation to deal with, but I would probably euthanize it.

If you are unable/unwilling to do so; I would start by placing it in a humid, warm and VERY sterile container. Take a q-tip and and dip it in a iodine rinse and clean the area. If you can take the same q-tip and push it's organs in, that would be a positive step.

I read that neosporin is safe to use on frogs though. So, apply some to the area after you clean it with iodine.

its hard for me to get a look at it without scaring him; i'm not really sure what the most humane way to euthanize him would be either. i guess i feel more sad for him than anything

I know. I worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center. It's never easy to see such beautiful creatures suffer.

If you want to euthanize him, a sharp blow to the head would be humane. If you can't handle that, I understand. Place him in a deli cup and inside the refrigerator for a few hours and then into the freezer. He should go quick, but leave him in the freezer for at least 24 hours.

so sorry didn't see this post earlier, vetropolycin, without steroids, lots of moisture, and little stress, make sure he has plenty of free food. don't know if this froggy is still alive, hope it is, it's a 50/50 shot the wound looks very severe.

i used it on some anoles that a friend brought my son from Florida they had half dozen in a Lil hermit crab cage with 2 dozen crickets they got here each one had close to 25% of skin chewed off from the crickets put neo. on the area's 2 weeks later you could only see an outline of where there skin was chewed off. stuff works wanders
