morph classification?

I was wondering, are crested geckos characterized by morph when they are fired, or unfired?

I have a male that is basically patternless and cream/light color during the day, but fires to a dark burgundy with almost a black back at night (or when i wake him up).

Would he be a buckskin or a red bi-color?

Usually the color/morph is determined based on the fired coloration. You gecko sounds like it is probably a red, bicolor gecko.
