I went through the same thing with paper towels, it was truly a pain.
I use aspen now, but have you ever considered cypress mulch? Works just as well. I use it for my Bloods and my Dumeril's.

That is a gorgeous collection!
I do have to jump in here about the substrate, I work at a small pet store here, its locally owned and all, great little store. I have heard everything about bedding. Those bedding do have a tendency to get stuck to the snake while feeding, something that does work REALLY well is something called "cell sorb". It is newspaper that has been compressed into loose pellets. It works well because you know when you have to clean up part because when the snake goes to the bathroom on it, it breaks up, and loses shape, and it absorbs the ammonia, keeping it smelling not as bad as it can get. Its also relatively cheap, it runs around $28 for a 40 lb bag. I have personally used it, and its worked very well.
Sorry for going on a little rant there... hope I helped some.
