Re: A thought on Daddy and Lesser = Butter

My opinion--if you breed a lesser to a butter, and you get lessers and butters, then like mojave and lesser, they are different.

If you breed lesser to butter, and you get intergrades that you can't identify as one or the other, then they're the same thing.

The fact they both react the same way with the Daddy gene doesn't mean they are the same--you can cross a Russo with a Lesser and get a BEL.

Has RD tried combining the Daddy gene with Mojaves and Russos yet?

I don't think that Ralph ever has or ever will have either the mojave or the russo line. He really has no reason to.

My prediction is it would be the same results.

I don't know what Ralph has going on, but I have a big mojave girl that was bred by a hidden gene/platty sib male due to lay any day now. Hopefully she'll give me a pile of good eggs. If I end up hitting the combo 60 days or so from now I'll post pics. Maybe if I hit the mojave combo and it is cool looking I'll try the Russo combo down the line.
