    Won't eat Acting weird.

May 15th or so I got 2 baby ball pythons Het for clown. I keep them both in the same tub. Hot end 88 cool end 79. Big dish so they can soak. The female snake is doing great, she ate, just shed today, and has gained a good amount of size. The male on the other hand Has not ate since I got him, nor shed, Isn't even flicking his tongue. I dont see any signs of an RI, and no mouth rot. He is definitly skinny, also doesnt move much at all and seems to want to burrow alot. I assist fed him today and he took it and has so far kept it down. I was just wondering what could be up with him. I feel like I can rule out husbandry as the female is doing wonderfully. We will see how the next week goes, if bad off to the vet i guess. Just wondering if someone had anything to share with me.

I would try separating them in to their own tubs. I have seen in the past where one just will not eat when housed with another I dont know why but it happens sometimes.

I was thinking of doing that, Just have to go by another UTH and two more hides etc. I could do that today if that really could be the problem, I was thinking more for saving space, but there well being is more important.

Just one of the many reasons why it's never recommended to house two snakes together.
Make sure he has a small, tight hide, and is in a small tub (shoebox), since he is a hatchling.

I personally would never house hatchlings together. I have heard tales of cannibalism...rare, but it happens.

    Re: Won't eat Acting weird.

Snakes can get very stressed from being in the same tub as another and sometimes will end up not eating because of that other snake.

Keep them separate, give the male a nice tight-fitting hide, get the temps & humidity down, and see what happens.

You can get put them both in 16qt tubs (cheap) with newspaper or paper towel bedding (cheap) and put one strip of Flexwatt under both (dirt cheap) and run it on the thermostat you have. Several feet of Flexwatt and clips and shipping is all cheaper than a single UTH. I think it's cheapest at reptilebasics.com and they'll put the clips on for you for free.

Be sure to wait 3 days for him to get used to it, before offering food.

You're temps are a little low on both ends, he could be burrowing to get closer to the heat.
