Re: Blackbacks
Ty,
That's the male.
When the female gets up to a good size I intend to try and pair them to see if the pattern is passed on or can be refined.
They both eat their F/T with a scary amount of energy but the female especially is like a little scaley chainsaw on feeding day.
Not only does she strike like Thors hammer when it is presented to her she will occasionally just launch herself in my general direction on the grounds something somewhere smells like mice.
The rest of the time she is nice as pie and likes to bump noses.

Re: Blackbacks
Hi,
I wish that was the case.
Het red's are often blackbacked but that's about the only definate thing you could say I think.
If anyone knows better please edumacate me.
Even if I get nice blackbacked offspring from this pairing I would need to then try and work out what genetics pattern (if any ) that they fitted.
It could be anything from complex inheritance involving multiple genes, recessive, dominant or incomplete dominant.
So many generations bred to unrelated snakes before you really know if you have anything.
Ahhhh the joys of dinking.
