    Question School grades and herps?

Did herps ever get in the way of your school grades?

    Re: School grades and herps?

    Not at all,

I've had snakes since I was about 10 and my grades have always been.. fair

But snakes haven't ever gotten in the way of my grades, school, or anything involving school-related things.

    Re: School grades and herps?

Yeah, actually. I still have maintained above a 3.0, but sometimes it's quite difficult to pay attention in class, because I'm thinking about my snakes/future snakes/NARCB Tinley instead of learning. 'Specially Algebra.

    Re: School grades and herps?

I think I did let my mind focus on my snakes too much during the last school year. In the past I would think about chemistry in my lazy time, but recently I found myself thinking about snakes instead. I would also take my snakes out while studying and let them distract me. At the same time, I had the highest gpa of my life and reached all my academic goals.
I think that anything that is taking too large a focus in our lives can throw us off balance, but it is more specifically dependant on what we allow to cause us to veer. It could happen with just one single corn snake, or we could be strong enough to not let it happen with an army of reticulated pythons.
In high school, sports was my focus and I allowed it to pull my grades down to mediocrity. I only did what I absolutely HAD to and when I gave up sports in university, it made all the difference.

Are you asking because you are concerned?

    Re: School grades and herps?

    Honestly yes, horribly.

When I was still in school, id miss days to receive packages, stay home and tend to the herp room, and eventually I dropped out to better pursue my reptile business.

Serious (ly stupid) Herper right here :/

    Re: School grades and herps?

My oldest snake died after many quality years, right before I left for college.

It was for the best I suppose, I spent 4 years pet-less (except for a goldfish my senior year), so I didn't have to worry about transportation or care of animals, going between texas and minnesota multiple times a year.
